The smallest of our three apartments, and for many guests the one that works best: thirty-nine square metres, everything on one level, with a separate and generous bathroom. In the middle of Rossatz, across the river from Dürnstein.

About the apartment
Thirty-nine square metres hold everything on a single level: a sleeping area, an open kitchen, a dining table and a small library. The bathroom is separate and generous, with a large walk-in shower.
Most of what you see was built in our own workshop. Clemens made the furniture from solid timber and set it against metal — the kitchen worktop is industrial steel, the shelves are untreated raw wood. The result is a quiet workshop character rather than anything cold.
The kitchen is fully equipped: hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge, kettle, French press, crockery, pots and pans, wine glasses. After a day on the Danube Cycle Path, cooking here is often more appealing than going out. The village shop directly across the road opens Monday to Saturday in the morning.
The Studio suits solo travellers, couples and small groups. It works particularly well for cyclists and walkers staying a few nights: the hiking trails start behind the house, the Danube is a ten-minute walk away, and parking behind the building is free.

Where you will be
Danube Atelier stands in Rossatz, on the right bank of the Danube in the middle of the Wachau. The building has medieval walls with surviving wall paintings, was converted into the village schoolhouse in the nineteenth century and later served as the kindergarten; we renovated it ourselves, with three apartments and a studio for yoga and Feldenkrais.
Directly opposite, across the river, is Dürnstein with the castle ruin where Richard the Lionheart was held prisoner. The motor ferry takes a few minutes.
The Danube Cycle Path passes the house, the World Heritage Trail starts behind the garden, and the river beaches are a ten-minute walk away. The Rossatz vineyards are within walking distance, and the apricot orchards blossom in early April.
Good to know
The garden and the lounge with its library are shared by all three apartments. Parking behind the house is free.
The church across the road rings its bells at night as well, though more quietly. The village shop opposite is open Monday to Saturday in the morning and closed on Sundays.
During your stay you are welcome to join a yoga or Feldenkrais class in the house.
