Yoga in the Wachau – in the house
Danube Atelier has its own yoga room. Guests staying in one of the apartments can simply join the running classes — no need to book ahead, just turn up.
The studio in the house
Kundalini and Hatha yoga
The yoga studio belongs to Matsya Yoga, the academy run by Clemens Biedrawa, and sits in the same building as the three apartments. What is taught is classical Hatha yoga and Kundalini yoga — two paths that historically belong together far more closely than today's class listings suggest.
The classes are deliberately not fitness-shaped. They are about breath, attention and the finer layers of practice: bandha, mudra, pranayama, meditation. Someone who has never stood on a mat is as welcome as someone with twenty years behind them, and the teaching is pitched for both at once.
The room is bright, looks onto the garden and holds everything you need — mats, bolsters, blankets, straps. Bring comfortable clothes and nothing else.
Classes are taught in English and German, depending on who is in the room.

No experience needed

Taught in English
Teaching runs in English and German, so international guests manage without any German.

RYT 200 and RYT 300
Yoga teacher trainings in the house
Matsya Yoga trains yoga teachers here in Rossatz — a 200-hour RYT and a building 300-hour RYT, both registered with Yoga Alliance and recognised internationally.
The 200-hour training runs over 26 consecutive days, the 300-hour over 40. Teaching goes Wednesday to Sunday, with morning practice, theory blocks and an evening class. Anyone who cannot take a month off takes the modules spread across a year instead.
The curriculum covers philosophy and history of yoga, yogic and western anatomy, chakras and koshas, class design and didactics, and bandha, mudra, pranayama and meditation. The source texts — Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Vijnana Bhairava Tantra and others — are included.
The training can be booked with or without accommodation. Booked with accommodation, you stay in the apartments in the house and the stay is included in the training fee. Booked without, it is not included — you can then ask us for a room separately. Matsya Yoga holds Ö-Cert certification, which makes the trainings eligible for Austrian funding through WAFF, AMS and comparable bodies.
