The Feldenkrais Method

Learning, not treatment

The picture a person holds of themselves shapes the way they move. And the reverse holds too: paying attention to your own movement changes that picture. That is the core of what Moshé Feldenkrais developed.

The method works with the nervous system's own capacity to learn, rather than against a complaint. It is explicitly not a treatment — nobody is repairing anything in you. You get to know yourself more precisely, and out of that comes more room to move, often well beyond the physical.

The movement sequences are small, slow and effortless. There is nothing to achieve and nothing to get right. That is exactly why the method works for such different people — after an injury, with lasting tension, under strain, or when something that used to be obvious has become harder.

No prior experience is needed, and age makes no difference.

Feldenkrais individual lesson: the practitioner works with a person lying on the table

Functional Integration

The individual lesson. Anne guides you through a movement lesson with gentle, attentive touch, shaped around your own questions. Around 60 minutes, lying, sitting or standing.

Awareness Through Movement

The group class. Movements are guided by voice alone — nothing is demonstrated and nothing copied, and each person moves at their own pace and range.

Child'Space

For babies from the first weeks of life until they walk freely, together with their parents. Rolling, crawling, sitting — and practical handling for lifting, carrying and changing.

Viola, violin, piano

For musicians

An instrument sounds the way you move. Anne is a violist herself and came to the Feldenkrais Method through a playing injury — the way back led her not only to her full playing, but to a new confidence in herself.

That experience is why she particularly likes working with musicians: with neck and shoulders in string players, with breath and embouchure in wind players, with wrists and seated posture at the piano. Equally with performance anxiety, with strain from over-practising, and with returning after a break.

Whether you play professionally, study music or play for the pleasure of it makes no difference here.

The practitioner

About Anne

Anne Ristorcelli comes from the mountains of Nevada and has played the viola since childhood. She took her Bachelor of Music at Oberlin Conservatory and her Master's at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and qualified as a Feldenkrais practitioner in 2019.

She has taught in Nevada, Colorado, Norway, Nepal, Russia, Taiwan and Australia. Today she works in Rossatz, about fifteen minutes from Krems, in the rooms of Matsya Yoga — and together with Clemens looks after the three apartments in the house.

The Feldenkrais Method is a way of learning and does not replace medical or therapeutic treatment.
